Dr Ralph Stanford is an experienced orthopaedic spinal surgeon in Sydney, practising at Prince of Wales Private Hospital. He completed specialist training with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and the Australian Orthopaedic Association, followed by a 12-month advanced spinal fellowship in Cleveland, USA.
Dr Stanford specialises in the management of adult spinal conditions, including degenerative spine disorders, spinal trauma, tumours, and spinal deformity. He is part of the spinal injury roster at Prince of Wales Hospital and works closely with the Spinal Cord Injury Unit, providing comprehensive care for complex spinal conditions.
He is actively involved in education as a supervisor of training for orthopaedic registrars and teaches medical students at the University of New South Wales. His research interests include the SUCCESS trial, a placebo-controlled study investigating surgery for spinal stenosis, and the development of a research platform for acute spinal cord injury in NSW.
