Doctor Helen Herz is a staff specialist in the Department of Palliative Medicine at Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney. She has consulting rights at Prince of Wales Private Hospital and has a private practice in Suite 20.

She is a Foundation Fellow of the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (1999). She trained at the Prince of Wales and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals, and at the Sacred Heart Centre in Sydney.

Dr Herz is a member of the Gastrointestinal Multidisciplinary Team
which meets weekly at Prince of Wales Hospital to discuss patient care. The meeting brings together specialists from many fields including medical and radiation oncology, upper and lower gastrointestinal surgery, radiology and genetics.

Dr Herz has an active interest in the care of people with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), and in disease-specific advance care directives. She has presented at international meetings on this subject. She established the Calvary Multidisciplinary MND Service in Kogarah and ran it until 2008. She is a past member of the POW MND Clinic and continues to consult.

In her practice at Prince of Wales, Dr Herz is primarily engaged in the domiciliary care of people with life-limiting illness, visiting patients and families at home, and conducting a weekly outpatient clinic. She also conducts a regular ward round at the hospital.
