Professor Zoltan Endre graduated with first class honours in Medicine and Science and a PhD from Sydney University. He trained as a Nephrologist at Prince Henry Hospital in Sydney and completed post-doctoral scientific studies as Nuffield Medical Fellow in Oxford. He has held Nephrology Consultant and Professorial appointments in Brisbane – Australia, Christchurch – New Zealand and Sydney – Australia.

His clinical interests are in acute and chronic kidney disease (AKI and CKD), fluid and electrolyte disorders and hypertension. These interests are underpinned by extensive research in kidney disease. He is an international leader in kidney biomarker research and led the first intervention trial using urinary biomarkers to triage to treatment in critical care patients. His laboratory currently analyses biomarkers of kidney disease for studies in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Sri Lanka.

He is a frequently invited speaker at international meetings, is on many medical journal editorial boards and is Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Internal Medicine Journal. He is Professor of Medicine in the Prince of Wales Clinical School at the University of New South Wales and Honorary Professor of Medicine at the University of Queensland and the University of Otago-Christchurch in New Zealand. He has been Head of Nephrology at the Prince of Wales Hospital since 2012.
