Dr Barbara Depczynski

Dr Barbara Depczynski is a senior staff specialist at The Prince of Wales Hospital and a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at The University of New South Wales. Barbara is an endocrinologist with clinical interests in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, Type 2 Diabetes, and pituitary disorders.IMG_4360

Barbara graduated from The University of New South Wales in 1989. Her physician training was undertaken at The Prince of Wales Hospital, Randwick and St Vincent’s Hospital, Darlinghurst. She was awarded a PhD in 2002 for research into hypothalamic neuropeptide regulation of feeding and anterior pituitary function, conducted at The Garvan Institute of Medical Research. Barbara was a staff specialist in endocrinology at Liverpool Hospital 2001-2011, including a 2 year period as Director of Endocrinology. At The Prince of Wales Hospital, where she has been since 2012, Barbara runs a general endocrinology clinic including care of patients with pituitary disease, as well as type 2 diabetes clinics. She also consults at the Late Effects Clinic at Sydney Children’s Hospital where multidisciplinary care is provided to childhood cancer survivors. She is actively involved in the post-graduate training of medical staff, including supervision of Advanced Trainees in Endocrinology.
